För att inte tala om alla dessa kvinnor

All these Women | Ach, diese Frauen
After three very serious films delving into the topic of the existence of God, Ingmar Bergman decided to write a comedy, in collaboration with Erland Josephson, which also became his first colour film, with Sven Nykvist as director of photography.

The story begins with the death of cello virtuoso Felix. Several women pass by the maestro’s coffin and declare one after the other that he looks the same, but different. All of them are his mistresses as well as his wife. The great music critic and would-be composer Cornelius (Jarl Kulle) is also present in the funeral home. He places the finished manuscript of his biography of the cellist into the coffin, but then has second thoughts and takes it out again.

FÖR ATT INTE TALA OM ALLE DESSA KVINNOR is a highly artificial comedy that even ventures into the realm of slapstick and farce. The story is told as a flashback: Cornelius arrives at the villa where Felix and his women are staying, but he is constantly prevented from meeting up with the master. Felix’ official mistress (Bibi Andersson) seduces him, the chamber maid (Harriet Andersson) diverts his attention, Felix’ wife Adelaide (Eva Dahlbeck) shoots at him and Felix’ impresario (Allan Edwall) has him dress up in women’s clothes, explaining that he can only get close to the great maestro as a woman.
