The Berlinale is celebrating its 60th anniversary next February and will be taking this occasion to look back, together with its audience, on an eventful history. Your favourite memories and personal experiences surrounding the Festival will be a special part of this commemoration – so this call goes out to you!
The Astronaut on the Roof by Spanish director Sergi Portabella starts off the next round of the Campus short film competition under this year's motto "Straight to Cinema". Five short films will be realised until the end of 2009 with support from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and in-kind contributions from the film industry. The five finalist films will celebrate their world premiere during the opening of the Berlinale Talent Campus 2010
At the 10th session of the World Cinema Fund jury on June 26 and 27, five new film projects (from Peru, Chile, Uruguay, the Dominican Republic, and South Africa) were selected for production funding; and two films (from Argentina and Lebanon), for distribution funding. The WCF jury made their selection from 107 submissions from a total of 40 countries. They awarded funds totalling 222,500 euros
By now it’s almost a tradition: for the seventh season in a row, the Friedrichshain Open-Air Cinema, in cooperation with radio eins, will be showing some of the highlights of this year’s Berlin International Film Festival in the Summer Berlinale from July 16 to 19. The Radstadion Open-Air in Cologne as well as the Mobiles Kino Nürnberg will also be showing films from this year’s Berlinale in July and August

The Berlinale is pleased that the German Federal Cultural Foundation will continue to support the World Cinema Fund (WCF) of the Berlinale until the end of 2011
The World Cinema Fund (WCF) is pleased to report that four of the films it helped support have been invited to the Festival de Cannes (13 to 24 May 2009). The Wind Journeys by Ciro Guerra and Independencia by Raya Martins have been selected for the official programme of the Un Certain Regard section. Furthermore Ajami by Scandar Copti and Yaron Shani will be showing at the Directors’ Fortnight as well as Huacho by Alejandro Almendras Fernandez at the Critics’ Week
While the five Berlin Today Award 2009 short films on the theme "My Wall" successfully travel to festivals around the world, the new round of the Berlinale Talent Campus' short film competition is underway. 250 young filmmakers from 65 countries responded to the call for project ideas on the motto "Straight to Cinema". Five short film projects from Georgia, Australia, Spain, Ireland and Columbia were selected by the jury to continue to the Berlin Today Award 2010 finals

1,600 invited guests and millions of TV viewers watched the awards ceremony in the Berlinale Palast. A night of suspense culminated in the announcement of the main prize: Magaly Solier, Claudia Llosa, José María Morales and Antonio Chavarrias received the Golden Bear for their film La teta asustada
